Use caseDirect cable
One cable, no switch. Quick, with one catch.
| Gear | one player or controller, one network cable, a computer |
| When | quick rehearsal, a single controller (XDJ-RX, Prime), an emergency |
| Status | Works, with a known bug |
What works
- One device directly: a CDJ, an all-in-one controller or a Denon Prime.
- Into a DJM LINK socket instead: all players on the mixer are seen. That is the better direct cable.
- No router: both sides give themselves
169.254.x.xaddresses. Wait up to a minute after plugging in.
Steps
Switch Wi-Fi off on the computer. This is the most important step.
Plug the cable into the player (LINK socket) and the computer (or USB adapter).
Wait 30–60 seconds, then Search automatically.
Nothing? Set up manually, enter the player’s address (Utility → Link Info) and Check connection.
Important
Known bug: with a direct cable and Wi-Fi on, players sometimes show up twice or not at all. Quit LJ Link (icon → Quit) and start again; switch Wi-Fi off; or put a small switch between. If you see it, please send a report while it is on screen.
Better: a small switch
A 5-port switch costs little, needs no setup and removes most problems of the direct cable. Keep one in the bag.
